1. Scope and controller
This policy applies to the STB for webOS application (app ID com.visquared.app.stbwebos), this website, licensing, purchases, support, and related telemetry. ViSquared is the business/trade name operating the app and is responsible for the processing described here.
The app is a client. ViSquared does not provide content, channel lists, or portal subscriptions and does not need your viewing credentials to license or support the app.
2. Information we process
Licence and device identifiers
- Hashed LGUDID licence identity. A one-way representation used to associate a licence with a TV. We do not store the raw LGUDID in our licensing systems.
- Portal and MAC correlation values.
portalHashandmacHashare shared, unsalted, truncated 12-hex-character hashes. They help correlate technical events for the same configured service. Because the values are short and unsalted, they are pseudonymous identifiers, not anonymous data. - Product-scoped serial and device hashes. These distinguish app installations or devices for licensing, fraud prevention, and reliability without sending the underlying serial or device value.
Purchases and support
We process licence status, transaction references, product and purchase details, timestamps, payment status, and the contact information you provide. Stripe, a third-party payment provider, processes purchases and payments. ViSquared does not receive full payment card or account credentials.
If you contact support, we process your email, message, device reference, and any diagnostic information you choose to send. Please do not send portal passwords, account credentials, or stream URLs.
App telemetry
Depending on your in-app choice, telemetry can include app version, TV/platform characteristics, feature or lifecycle events, error and performance information, coarse network outcomes, and the pseudonymous hashes described above.
Portal or account credentials, content titles, search terms, raw LGUDID values, or stream URLs.
Website data
GitHub Pages and Cloudflare may process ordinary request data such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and security logs when they deliver and protect this website. This site does not use advertising trackers or set its own analytics cookies.
3. Telemetry choices
- Basic telemetry is not automatically enabled. On first run, the app explicitly offers "Agree & share Basic diagnostics" or "Agree without diagnostics." Basic telemetry is sent only if you choose to share it.
- Detailed telemetry is off by default. If you separately enable it, it provides more granular diagnostic events to help investigate problems.
- You can opt out in the app. Use the telemetry controls in the app's settings to stop future telemetry. Turning telemetry off does not stop licence checks, purchase processing, or information you deliberately send to support.
4. Why we process information
| Purpose | Typical legal basis |
|---|---|
| Provide the trial, licence, purchases, and support | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures | Our legitimate interests in a safe and reliable service |
| Meet tax, accounting, consumer, and legal duties | Compliance with legal obligations |
| Process optional Basic or Detailed telemetry | Your consent |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and limit data to what is reasonably needed.
6. Service providers and international processing
- Cloudflare provides API delivery, DNS, security, and related network services.
- GitHub Pages hosts this public website.
- Stripe is the third-party provider that processes purchases and payments. Stripe processes payment details under its own privacy terms; ViSquared receives transaction and payment-status information but not full card credentials.
- Microsoft Application Insights processes app telemetry and diagnostics.
These providers may process information in the United States and other regions where they or their subprocessors operate. Where required, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions, contractual protections, or another lawful transfer mechanism. Each provider also processes information under its own privacy terms.
7. How long we keep information
- Telemetry: up to 90 days, unless a shorter period is configured or a security incident requires limited preservation.
- Licence and purchase records: for the life of the licence and, where legally required, up to 7 years afterward for tax, accounting, dispute, and fraud-prevention purposes.
- Support records: only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain service history, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
Backups and provider logs may persist briefly after deletion until their normal rotation completes.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including minimising identifiers, hashing device values, access controls, and managed service providers. No system is completely secure. To report a suspected vulnerability, follow the responsible disclosure instructions on our support page.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, and to object to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Send deletion, objection, or other privacy requests to support@visquared.org. Include your device reference if your request concerns a licence. We may ask for proportionate verification before acting.
These rights can have statutory exceptions. For example, we may retain or continue processing limited records where required for tax or accounting, to establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud, protect security, or comply with law. Because identifiers are hashed, we may be unable to link a record to you without the matching device reference.
10. Children
The app and purchasing service are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app, providers, or law changes. The current version will remain at this URL with its updated date. We will provide additional notice when required by law.
